Useful hobbies
What you gain from your passions!
I already wrote a post about how much hobbies cost and what they bought me in time. So, I thought of writing this post about what one can gain from its hobbies.
I think the best hobby of them all in its usefulness is cooking. It is something everyone needs to know to have a better life. If you can’t afford to have your own cook, you are the cook. You may say that you can get food cooked by others like from your parents or take-out, but it doesn’t compare with fresh cooked food. It is a great accomplishment to buy some ingredients and to make something that you love to eat out of them. You can cook for yourself good nourishing meals or you can cook for others and that will bring you closer to them. By cooking yourself, you will know what ingredients you put in your food and stay more healthy in this way.
Another useful hobby is writing in a journal. It is good for your mental health to write your thought. I recommend a digital journal which is more private. It is very useful to put order in your mind and thought without saying those words to a friend. Maybe you don’t have a close friend right now. Or you have more conflicts in your mind than you want to confess to a friend. If you have many friends but no one is so close to you, to let it into your mind, you need a journal. Some people go to a therapist instead of writing their thoughts. It is a more costly option. But if you don’t have a medial problem you can put order in your thoughts by writing them in a journal and reading them to yourself after a while. Reading your journal can give you clarity over your patterns of though and you can correct them by yourself.
Another useful hobby is a moving one, like yoga, or jogging or walking. I prefer yoga because you don’t need to get out of your home to do it, but any hobby in which you move your body is it useful. If you are young and mobile you may think that you will be like that for the rest of your life, but it is not so. If you start young to have a moving hobby when you get old you will preserve your mobility and strength many years into your old age. You will also keep your weight in check. And that is important because it is much harder to lose weight after a certain age.
I find it useful reading. It is a great hobby for mental health. One gains a lot from reading:
you are transported in the world created by the author
you learn a lot about other cultures
you improve your vocabulary
you can read anywhere when you have the time
it can calm you down and improves sleep.
These hobbies are the most useful hobbies to have, in my opinion.
If you have other hobbies more useful I will be glad to read about them in the comments.
See you in my next post!
